SAAD Assessed Sedation Nurse CourseClick here for more information.
Patients present us with many challenges. Increasingly we will be required to provide sedation for patients who have challenging morbidities; dementia, diabetes, obesity. The need to give clear information to patients is paramount, and increasingly scrutinised. The quest for a 'perfect smile' may encourage more patients to consider implants, and the applications of CBT are only just beginning to be appreciated. All will be discussed at this year's SAAD Symposium. Here's to the future!
Date: Saturday 22nd September 2018
Times: 09:30 - 16:30
Programme: the programme is available to download.
- Assess and manage airway complications to ensure patient safety
- To understand the implications of diabetes on conscious sedation and manage them appropriately
- To appreciate the consequences of dental implant placement using conscious sedation and evaluate the role of the dental team
- To explore the role of simulated virtual reality in the psychological preparation of the dentally anxious patient, with an opportunity to use a virtual reality device
- To increase awareness of the challenges of sedation provision beyond the walls of the conventional dental setting, using examples such as the Royal Air Force
- To understand the importance of patient information as part of the consent process
