Dr Carole Boyle Carole is a Consultant in Special Care Dentistry at King's College London Dental Institute, Guy's, King's College and St Thomas' Hospitals . Her particular interests are using sedation for people who require special care, and teaching sedation both to undergraduates and postgraduates. She is a trustee of SAAD. |

Dr Mike Clarke Medico-Legal Adviser, Dental Protection Ltd. Mike qualified in Cardiff in 1979 and following a long career as a GDP, began working for Dental Protection in 1995. He now works full-time in the Society’s Leeds office whilst maintaining a single session commitment to general dental practice. He has been active in dental politics as Chairman of the General Dental Practitioners’ Association during the fee cut crisis in the early 1990s. Since then he has been a past Vice Chairman of the BDA Private Practice Committee and has served on numerous Department of Health Advisory Committees. |

Dr Derek Debuse SAAD Hon Secretary and Course Registrar Derek's background in General Practice and sedation teaching at Guy's Dental Hospital as Senior Clinical Teacher enables him to offer a range of skills. He runs the Diploma course in Sedation for Dentistry at KCL. He is currently Hon. Secretary of SAAD and is an examiner for the Sedation exam of the National Examining Board for Dental Nurses. |

Dr Sarah Higham General Dental Practitioner Cheltenham Sarah has recently returned form working in Australia and prior to that she was a member of the GKT faculty of sedation and special needs. She has considerable experience in lecturing and demonstrating in the subject of conscious sedation. |

Dr Christopher Holden Past President and trustee of SAAD, GDP Derbyshire Chris practises as a general dental practitioner in Derbyshire. He has been an author of most national guidance documents on dental sedation in the last 15 years. Chris regularly provides expert evidence in the UK, Europe and worldwide and is immediate past president of The International Federation of Dental anaesthesiology Societies

Dr Steve Jones (SAAD Treasurer) Senior Dental Officer, Workington, Cumbria Stephen is Clinical Director of the Salaried Dental Service, Cumbria PCT. His clinical duties are related to the provision of conscious sedation to anxious and phobic patients. He gained the Diploma in Conscious Sedation from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne in 1997. He is also an examiner with the National Examining Board for Dental Nurses (Certificate Dental Sedation Nursing) and a member of Dental Sedation Teachers Group. |

Dr Najla Akbarali Lecturer, KCL Dental Institute Najla is a full time member of staff at KCL Dental Institute, in the Department of Sedation and Special Care Dentistry. She is involved in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students in the department and in treating patients with a variety of sedation techniques. |

Dr Nigel Robb President of Association of Dental Anaesthetists Nigel is a Consultant in restorative dentistry and runs the Sedation Unit at Glasgow Dental School. He has a vast experience in the subject of Conscious Sedation having co-authored one of the standard text books on the subject. He is an authority and renowned international speaker on the subject of Conscious Sedation. |

Dr John Tiernan Deputy Dental Director, Dental Protection Ltd John qualified from Dublin Dental School in 1980 and spent 14 years in general dental practice before joining Dental Protection as a full time dento-legal adviser in 1994. He was appointed Assistant Dental director in January 2004. John became a member of the Executive Committee of MPS in June 2006. Having previously been Chairman of the British Dental Health Foundation, and a BDA Council and Representative Board member, John was an elected member of the UK General Dental Council for 10 years. |

Dr Michael Wood Michael runs a busy General Dental Practice in Luton. The practice specialises in accepting referrals from the local catchments and specialises in providing for paediatric and special care patients. He holds a MSc in Dental Sedation and lectures extensively in the UK and continent. |

Dr Chris Wright Associate Specialist, Dept of Oral Surgery, Birmingham Dental Hospital. Chris was a principle in a mixed General Dental Practice spanning over three decades. He helped to develop the Sedation Course at Birmingham Dental School and continues to lecture and demonstrate on several undergraduate and postgraduate dental courses throughout the country. He is a committee member of the Dental Sedation Teachers Group and helps to run the Web site for SAAD and DSTG. |
