Dental Nurses

Part One Course

The Part One course is held in London three times a year at the same time as the course for dentists. Although primarily designed for nurses who have experience in sedation techniques the course is also suitable for new members of the dental team.

The course covers the syllabus of the NEBDN Certificate in Dental Sedation Nursing (CDSN). A certificate of attendance is awarded at the end of the course. This is a rewarding course, which is both educational and fun.

Part Two course

The Part Two course for Dental Nurses is a follow on from the Part One course and will provide intensive revision for the CDSN examination. In order to gain maximum benefit participants should have recently attended the Part One or a similar course. The two courses have been designed to complement each other.

Following attendance at both courses candidates should be well prepared to sit the Certificate in Dental Sedation Nursing (CDSN).

The Part Two course is held at Guy’s hospital in London.

Dental Therapists / Hygienists

Following the decision by the General Dental Council to include sedation with nitrous oxide/oxygen in the Scope of Practice, SAAD is arranging a 2 day pilot course for a limited number of participants, to coincide with the National Conscious Sedation course on November 6 / 7.

Places will be available on a 'first come, first served' basis.

The programme is still being developed but it will be devised for experienced Therapists/Hygienists. It is important that the course is followed by clinical experience, with at least 10 supervised cases before independent practice.
